PANCAKE PRE-GAME: Donkey Coffee

PANCAKE PRE-GAME: Donkey Coffee

The best day of the entire year is approaching. Aquabear Legion’s annual Pancake Breakfast is Sunday, January 29th at ARTS/West in Athens, Ohio! Last year we decided it made sense to involve the unbelievable local food community here in the Athens area with our fundraiser to help support unbelievable local music and the best day of the year became even better. ALL WEEK we will be spotlighting the local food producers and businesses we are working with this year. See you all at the Aquabear Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 29th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at ARTS/West, 132 West State Street in Athens. Athens’ own Donkey Coffee & Espresso will be fueling this year’s Aquabear Pancake Breakfast by providing all the coffee! That’s right along with all-you-can-eat pancakes you also get all-you-can-drink coffee courtesy of Donkey! Besides making a really good cup of coffee Donkey also hosts live music, films, art shows, and many other events. We are hosting part of this year’s 6th annual Aquabear County Fair at Donkey with an early show on Friday, March 9th. You can find out much more on their website! “Donkey Coffee and Espresso has its roots in community. With more than 4,000 square feet of cozy space to...

nobrow.music.collective Brings Unsilent Night to Athens TONIGHT!

nobrow.music.collective Brings Unsilent Night to Athens TONIGHT!

Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night is a free outdoor participatory sound sculpture of many individual parts, recorded on cassettes, CDs and mp3s, and played through a roving swarm of boom-boxes carried through city streets every December. People bring their own boom-boxes and drift peacefully through a cloud of sound which is different from every listener’s perspective. Since 1992, this 45-minute work has grown into a worldwide annual communal event that has become an essential part of many winter holiday celebrations. Anyone can produce this–individuals, arts organizations, museums, universities, towns & cities have presented it. The nobrow.music.collective is presenting this year’s only Ohio performance of Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night! All you need to participate is a battery powered boom-box, a mp3 player with external speakers or an iphone/ipod touch/ipad. We’ll meet at 6pm on Wednesday, December 21st at Donkey Coffee (show up at least 15 minutes early if you need a tape/cd), then begin our 45-minute journey through uptown Athens. To download an mp3 to make your own tape/cd visit: http://unsilentnight.com/audio.html (click the “download your part” link). If you want to get the free app visit:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/phil-klines-unsilent-night/id483509723?mt=8 This event is family friendly! Please let everyone you know about this! Even better than...
