Since 2004, Aquabear Legion has served to promote and support Ohio music and art and has been run by founders Brian Koscho and Todd Jacops since then. With 17 releases (mostly compilations from over the years) since then on vinyl, cd, tape, and digital, Aquabear comes into 2021 ready to make two more (new) archival compilations. We also have some awesome new merchandise with art from our good friend Matthew Presutti to help make that happen. Aquabear Legion is a labor of love and long-time passion for Brian and Todd. These pre-orders serve as a way to make these projects happen and also to help cover the Legion’s minimal annual expenses to exist.

Well, Brian decided it was finally time to make his own podcast and he is excited to present the results of the first episode of The Moose Is Loose! This podcast will focus on Ohio music and is named after the first ever compilation project he put together in 2003 (which you can download for FREE here). This episode showcases some of Brian’s favorite songs from the Aquabear online compilations and features music from The Franchise, The Makebelieves, Dragline Brothers, We March, Mike Elliott, Machine Go Boom, Washout Corporation, Neo Nothing, Casual Future, The Math Squad, Casiotone Orchestra, Men of Gentle Birth, Blackark, Matt Collander, and Small Object a. Not much talking in this one (Brian is still perfecting his smooth NPR voice) but you will get to hear our host babble a bit about his history with Ohio music. The first of many episodes to come.
Aquabear is pretty excited about Cleveland, Ohio’s Megachurch making its first visit down to Athens… These guys are damn good, they even opened up for Mission of Burma at last year’s Studio-Rama. A drummer and two basses, these guys have spent a good deal of time over the years in many other projects both past and current including Machine Go Boom, The Buried Wires, Washout Corporation, and a lot more. These guys play sweet math rock driven by pounding drums and twice the bass.
