The Moose Is Loose podcast rolls on with its third episode and the second part of our preview of THIS WEEKEND’s 6th annual Aquabear County Fair! Brian previews all the bands playing on Saturday, March 10th at O’Betty’s and The Union including: Bonzai, Octopus & Owl, State Park, Sport Fishing USA, The Kyle Sowashes, Freshkills, Dropdead Sons, and Wheels On Fire.

The Moose Is Loose presents its historic second episode, and its historic because we did another one! This episode is part one of an All-Aquabear County Fair preview (look for episode 3 next week!) and you can hear Brian talk about surgery, his cat, living on an alley, and of course play a lot of sweet music. The focus of part one is on Friday, March 9th so you will hear from all the bands playing the first day of the 6th annual Aquabear County Fair. From the early show at Donkey you will hear Chris Biester (represented by an Appalachian Death Ride song), Sovroncourt, and Moon High. Brian then moves on to Casa Cantina where you will hear songs from the bands playing there: The D-Rays, Hex Net, Sundown, and Weird Science.

Well, Brian decided it was finally time to make his own podcast and he is excited to present the results of the first episode of The Moose Is Loose! This podcast will focus on Ohio music and is named after the first ever compilation project he put together in 2003 (which you can download for FREE here). This episode showcases some of Brian’s favorite songs from the Aquabear online compilations and features music from The Franchise, The Makebelieves, Dragline Brothers, We March, Mike Elliott, Machine Go Boom, Washout Corporation, Neo Nothing, Casual Future, The Math Squad, Casiotone Orchestra, Men of Gentle Birth, Blackark, Matt Collander, and Small Object a. Not much talking in this one (Brian is still perfecting his smooth NPR voice) but you will get to hear our host babble a bit about his history with Ohio music. The first of many episodes to come.

 Sometimes the Bear Eats You: Episode Five
Hello, internet! This pocket-sized episode of STBEY Too features Brian & Randy discussing the natural beauty of Maine, why Rusted Root is so damn terrible, and a fat kid’s YouTube food reviews. You may have heard the Rusted Root argument in a previous edition of STBEY Too, but the audio quality sucked. Now, you can hear it somewhat better. Also, listen to various hippies chatting, whistling and playing guitar in the background. I threw in some of Noah’s old loop tape recordings too because I love you that much. Enjoy!
STBEY is back after a brief delay with a fourth episode that manages to be equal parts raucous and somber. This time we focus on Ohio’s current capital city, Columbus! Listen to the rockin’ sounds of Wheels on Fire (even though they’re from Athens), Super Desserts and Narrow and the Brights. Laugh at three goons as special guest Dave Obenour joins us to discuss one of Noah’s top ten favorite albums. Shake your head in despair as Kris fails to accurately describe how to make Noah’s signature drink: The Rolling DDT. On June 11, 2011 the Aquabear Legion Volume 4 CD was unleashed upon an Athens, OH populous that was salivating for some unbelievably awesome home grown Ohio tunes. Their craving was satiated on that night by the two-disc, 38 band compilation of compilations. Now you, our faithful followers, can experience all of the magic of that evening at the Union. Ashley and Emily grew a little bit older. Seascapes, Black Owls, Scubadog and Weedghost performed memorable sets. Brian and Andrew got drunk and shouted at Todd’s digital recorder. Have fun, and be liberal with your comments!

I awaken on the floor of Brian and Sherri’s hotel room (Thanks, you two!) to the sounds of someone retching in the room next door. Then, I record what I can before my second shuttle shift. I missed Yo La Tengo but managed to get some of The Flaming Lips for you.
